Core Purpose

Child Life Council’s core purpose is to serve child life professionals.




CLC advances the field of Child Life by establishing and maintaining professional standards, enhancing the professional growth and development of members, and advancing the credibility of the Child Life profession by fostering research and promoting the efficacy of Child Life practice.

The Child Life Council is committed for fostering diversity by offering a welcoming and supportive environment for its members, leadership, and the patients and families that we serve. To maintain an environment that respects variations in culture, age, gender, race, ethnicity, physical ability, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, religious affiliation, veteran status, and socioeconomic status.

Recognizing that diversity enriches the field of child life and enhances creativity and professional growth within the child life community, the Child Life Council encourages all aspects of diversity. This requires continued effort to attract and develop qualified person of diverse backgrounds whose unique life experiences and ways of thinking foster a culture of inclusion and diverse perspective. 

The Child Life Council affirms the need to attract individuals from diverse backgrounds and build on an organizational environment that values engagement; stimulates innovation and inspires performance that leads to the advancement of its members.
