2011 Child Life Professional Certification Program Survey

In July 2011 a 43-question survey was emailed to over 5,000 individuals in the certification database.  Thank you to the over 1300 respondents!   The survey provided staff with excellent feedback on a number of issues and will help guide decision-making and order priorities for the upcoming year.  A summary of the survey results highlighting key issues can be found here

Child Life Course Definition Announced

All applicants for the fall 2013 and subsequent exams will be required to successfully complete a minimum of one child life course taught by a Certified Child Life Specialist as part of the course work requirement.  A working group of CCLSs has defined the curriculum requirements for this course and these have been approved by the CLC Board of Directors.  The resulting revised policy regarding the course work requirement to establish eligibility for the Child Life Professional Certification Exam which will go into effect after the spring 2013 exam administration can be found here.

Revised Clinical Experience Verification Form

The Clinical Experience Verification Form has been revised. All clinical experience completed on or after January 1, 2011 MUST be documented on the NEW version of the form. Older versions of the form will NOT be accepted for clinical training completed after January 1, 2011. 

 

Important Upcoming Changes to the Eligibility Requirements:

 

Certification Maintenance Fees Due January 31, 2011

All Certified Child Life Specialists are required to pay certification maintenance fees in order to keep their certification status active. Current CCLSs who are in the first four years of their certification cycle should have received a reminder notice via email.
