If, after reviewing the Eligibility Requirements, you are unsure if the course work on your transcript will be accepted to establish eligibility for the Child Life Professional Child Life Professional Certification Examination, you have the option to request a course work review from now until December 31, 2013. CLC will review up to 15 completed courses as reported on your submitted transcripts to determine if specified courses fulfill the current eligibility requirements. In-progress courses are not reviewed. CLC accepts unofficial transcripts for Course Work Reviews.
Beginning in early 2014, a new process to establish eligibility for the Child Life Professional Certification Exam will be implemented called the Eligibility Assessment service. It is expected that the Eligibility Assessment will become available in mid-February. No Course Work Reviews or Eligibility Assessments will be completed between December 31, 2013, and the launch of the new Eligibility Assessment service. More information on the Eligibility Assessment Service is available in the Candidate Manual.
If you have already established a user profile with CLC, please log in before you begin the application process, so that any information we have on file in our database (such as contact information) will be automatically imported into your online course work review application. Once you have logged in, you can begin the application process. If you do not have a username and password, the system will create one for you as you complete this process. Follow the on-screen directions to submit your application and payment. CLC accepts Visa or MasterCard (if you are paying by check, please submit a paper application).
You will be asked to provide the following information for up to 15 courses:
NOTE: You must submit under separate cover a copy of your transcript(s) from the school(s) where the courses were taken. Transcripts do not have to be official for the course work review service. You may send them by mail, fax or email to the address listed below.
If you intend to pay by check, please fill out a copy of the Course Work Review Application, and submit it on or before December 31, 2013, along with transcript(s) and payment to:

CLCC is pleased to announce that beginning in early 2014 a new process to establish eligibility for the Child Life Professional Certification Exam will be implemented. The new Eligibility Assessment service will replace the current Course Work Review service. Applicants for the August 2014 exam administration and subsequent testing dates will be required to complete an Eligibility Assessment before registering for the certification exam.
The Eligibility Assessment will allow individuals to initiate a relationship with CLCC through which they can establish that they are eligible for the exam separately from registering for the examination. In other words, applying for the exam will be divided into two steps.
Step 1 - Eligibility Assessment
Step 2 - Exam Registration
Logging into their profile, applicants will be able to monitor their progress towards eligibility. Once eligibility is established, the applicant’s status will change to “candidate,” and he or she will be able to register for an exam administration.
Because many child life internship programs require applicants to document that they have met the academic requirements, a report similar to the Course Work Review results will be available for the applicant to print at any time during the Eligibility Assessment period.
The Eligibility Assessment Fee is a one-time fee if the candidate successfully completes the examination prior to any changes to the eligibility requirements. If the requirements change, candidates’ statuses will return to “applicant” pending a new assessment.
Please note that the Course Work Review service will not be available after December 31, 2013. It is expected that the Eligibility Assessment will become available in mid-February. No Course Work Reviews or Eligibility Assessments will be completed between these dates. Only materials that are received in the CLC office on or before December 31, 2013 will be processed. Course Work Review materials received after that date will not.
It is expected that this new process will allow individuals to better see their progress toward establishing eligibility and to prevent those who are not eligible from making payment for the certification exam prematurely.
Any questions regarding the certification process can be addressed to email@example.com.
