Partnership with Child Life Council
The Child Life Council, Inc., founded in 1982, is a North American based, international organization supporting the work of child life practitioners, educators, researchers, administrators, students and others who are interested in the field.
Child life professionals strive to reduce the negative impact of stressful or traumatic life events and situations that affect the development, health and well-being of infants, children, youth and families. They embrace the value of play as a healing modality as they work to enhance the optimal growth and development of infants, children and youth through assessment, intervention, prevention, advocacy, and education.
It may be that your organization could explore partnership with the Child Life Council to further children’s health, development and well being through research, coordination of care, or shared education and/or advocacy. Here are some possibilities:
- Education:
Our organizations could exchange conference endorsements, exhibit booth space and/or educators at each other’s conferences. CLC’s Annual Conference is held in May of each year and is an opportunity to reach approximately 300 professionals who work with children in healthcare settings every day. Your conference attendees could benefit from knowing more about the resources that child life specialists provide to children and families who are undergoing tests and/or treatments in healthcare and alternative settings.
- Coordination of Care:
Members of your organization could benefit from knowing more about child life specialists, who help make it easier for children to cope with the pain, fear, and anxiety due to traumatic life events. Child life specialists are a part of a child’s health care team, partnering with families and staff to promote family centered care and coordination of services. The CLC could send your organization mailings about child life. Likewise, our members could benefit from knowing more about resources your organization offers.
- Research:
There may be ways to collaborate on research that would demonstrate the effectiveness of child life specialists and your organization’s professionals.
