The article does specifically mention play and the sick or hospitalized child, discussing that research has indicated that play can help hospitalized children to feel less anxious about medical treatment, but goes on to say that play in such a context is essentially play that is not “freely chosen” or “personally directed” and therefore the article includes no further discussion of play specific to healthcare.
