Infants, children, youth, and families benefit from help coping with the stress and uncertainty of illness, injury and treatment. Certified Child Life Specialists provide evidence-based, developmentally appropriate interventions including therapeutic play, preparation and education that reduce fear, anxiety, and pain for infants, children, and youth. Certified Child Life Specialists are educated and trained in the developmental impact of illness and injury. Their role helps improve patient and family care, satisfaction and overall experience.

    The Association of Child Life Professionals joins other professional organizations whose members have expertise in child development, health, and welfare in opposing the traumatic separation of children from their families by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The Summer ACLP Bulletin

The articles in the ACLP Bulletin explore professional identity in different ways, touching on matters that relate to our identity as a profession and to our individual identities as child life professionals. Perhaps more than people in other professions, child life specialists are asked to define the field, and their work, on a regular basis. As such, we think a lot about professional identity, and this issue is informative in that it allows us insight into others’ thoughts about many of the same issues that we struggle with regularly.
