The first annual Innovation Fair was a huge success at the 2019 Child Life Annual Conference in Chicago. The fair is an opportunity for creative and resourceful child life professionals to share their inventions with conference attendees. Examples include DIY and handmade prep materials, diagnosis teaching aids, or a new game. The Poster Presentation, a longstanding conference event, allows presenters to share their research about a specific topic and discuss their findings with their peers.

Interested in research, but not sure where to start or whom to ask? This discussion is for researchers of all levels of experience. From those who have completed a study and published their findings to those just starting to think about what they want to investigate, this is an opportunity for all child life specialists interested in research to network and share resources. Please also join us for the Research Awards presentation. We will be presenting the Professional Research Recognition Award and the Student Research Recognition Award, which honor significant work and research initiatives that contribute to child life theory and practice.

Nearly half of conference registrants attend the Closing General Session during which the Mary Barkey Clinical Excellence Award is presented. The recipient is chosen by the ACLP Board of Directors from a selection of candidates nominated by their peers to honor a single child life specialist who has demonstrated exemplary child life care and a high level of skill. The current President of the ACLP Board of Directors passes the gavel to the President Elect, marking the change in leadership for the coming year. There is a Closing Keynote Speaker to end the conference with one last inspiring presentation.
