Nomination Deadlines Extended for Distinguished Service & Mary Barkey Clinical Excellence Awards

The Association of Child Life Professionals honors the child life profession’s leaders and pioneers with the annual Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of child life. The Mary Barkey Clinical Excellence Award, also awarded annually, is presented to an individual child life specialist who has demonstrated exemplary child life care and a high level of clinical skill. Initial nominations for both awards are due by August 21.

Great people and great organizations are making a difference in the child life community every day. To honor these outstanding leaders, the Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP) Board of Directors presents four separate awards each year during the ACLP Conference. In addition, ACLP offers Diversity and International scholarships.

NEW! One-Person Program Conference Scholarships

If you are an active ACLP member and Certified Child Life Specialist working in a one-person child life program in a hospital setting, this new scholarship is for you. ACLP is offering two fully-paid One-Person Program Conference Scholarships to attend the 2020 Child Life Annual Conference in San Antonio, May 21-24. Information about how to apply will be available later this year.

Mary Barkey Clinical Excellence Award

The Mary Barkey Clinical Excellence Award was introduced in 2010 to honor child life specialists who have demonstrated exemplary child life care and a high level of clinical skill. Each year, the Awards Committee and Board of Directors will consider nominations and select one recipient, who will be honored at the ACLP Annual Conference.

Since 1988, ACLP has honored some of the child life profession’s outstanding leaders and pioneers with the Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes ACLP members who have made outstanding contributions to the field of child life. The Professional Research Recognition Award honors significant work by a child life specialist that contributes to theory and practice within the field of child life. A profile of the winning researcher(s) and a brief summary of the research findings will be shared with ACLP members in the summer  issue of the ACLP Bulletin, and the award recipient(s) will also be recognized at the Child Life Annual Conference.
