Infants, children, youth, and families benefit from help coping with the stress and uncertainty of illness, injury and treatment. Certified Child Life Specialists provide evidence-based, developmentally appropriate interventions including therapeutic play, preparation and education that reduce fear, anxiety, and pain for infants, children, and youth. Certified Child Life Specialists are educated and trained in the developmental impact of illness and injury. Their role helps improve patient and family care, satisfaction and overall experience.

  • Important Certification and Internship Deadlines

    New certification requirements will take effect in 2019. If you intend to become certified in 2018, the deadline to apply for the last available internship cycle (Summer 2018) is January 5, 2018. If you plan to submit an internship application by the January 5th deadline, documentation for your eligibility assessment must be received in the ACLP office by December 20th.

  • New Eligibility Assessment Process for 2019-2021 Candidates Now Available

    A new online process is available to assess the eligibility of applicants against the requirements that will be in place from 2019 through the end of 2021. Applicants may log into their profile, pay a fee for the Eligibility Assessment, and immediately begin entering their eligibility information. The Child Life Certifying Committee is implementing this process as part of an overall effort to streamline the exam application experience and to provide applicants with a tool for monitoring their progress toward establishing eligibility.
