Governance at CLCC

The Child Life Certification Commission (CLCC) is responsible for overseeing the Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) credentialing program.

Its governance structure is designed to maintain the integrity, impartiality, and independence of the certification process. The commission is composed of volunteer Certified Child Life Specialists leaders, who work collaboratively to establish policies, ensure compliance with accreditation standards, and support the ongoing professional development of certificants.

This structure upholds the CLCC’s commitment to protecting the public and advancing the child life profession.

Current CLCC Commissioners

The CLCC Nominating Committee is responsible for the application process to elect the CLCC Commissioners. This process is separate from that of all other ACLP positions to stay compliant with best practice for credentialing bodies.

The following are the current Child Life Certification Commissioners:

Francisco Villa, CCLS, Commissioner

Francisco has been a certified child life specialist since 2011. He completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development from the University of Texas at Austin. After six years at the bedside, he pursued a Master of Public Administration degree from Arkansas State University. Francisco was a nonprofit manager who provided trauma systems oversight in a central Texas region. Several years passed before a move closer to family led to his most recent position as a Business Development Manager for a healthcare manufacturer. A lifelong learner, Francisco also attained an MBA to bolster his business acumen.

Francisco is married to his beautiful wife, Robin. She's a pediatric nurse leader so healthcare is a family business. When he's not playing video games or trying new restaurants with his wife, he's cheering on his fierce six year old daughter in all her activities or working as her school's PTO board member. Francisco and his wife recently welcomed a baby girl and are over the moon. Two girls and two fur babies means there's never a dull moment or shortage of cute pictures and videos to share!
