Eligibility Assessment Overview

The Eligibility Assessment is the candidates way to submit and show completion of their academic requirements (degree and coursework) as well as their completion of the clinical internship. Applicants must successfully submit an CLCC Eligibility Assessment in order to register for the certification exam.

Many applicants begin the Eligibility Assessment process when they have at least a few, if not most, of their courses complete. The Eligibility Assessment is a living submission that applicants can enter some information and return later to enter the other parts as they complete them.

The Eligibility Assessment has a one time fee of $80.00 USD.

Steps to Complete the Eligibility Assessment

The Eligibility Assessment requires applicants to provide documentation of the successful completion of the academic requirements (degree and coursework) as well as a clinical internship.

The steps for completing the Eligibility Assessment are as follows:

  • Step 1: Request to start, and pay, for the Eligibility Assessment
  • Step 2: Enter Academic Requirements (degree and coursework) & Internship Information 
  • Step 3: Submit Official Transcripts (and other supporting documentation) to CLCC

Step #1: Start and Pay for the Eligibility Assessment

Step #1: Start the Eligibility Assessment and Pay

1. Log in or create a new customer record
2. From the Customer Profile page, click on Certification Portal
3. Select Start Your Eligibility Assessment
4. At the bottom on the left-hand side click the down arrow under Academic Choice
5. Choose your academic path, either ACLP Endorsed Program or Coursework path, (if you are not attending an ACLP Endorsed Program, choose Coursework)

ACLP Endorsed Program Path – you must be attending one of the schools listed on the website to use this assessment path.

1. Click the Add to cart and then the Finish button.

2. Enter your payment information

3. Submit Order

4. Click on the Continue the Assessment button

5. Scroll down to the Graduating from an ACLP-Endorsed Program Area and click Select

6. Click on the Submit ACLP Endorsed Program Information.

7. From the drop-down menu select your endorsed program institution

8. Enter the name of the program/degree

9. Enter your academic director’s name and contact information

10. Upload the Endorsed Program Enrollment Letter that is provided by your academic leader.

11. Click Submit

12. Click Continue Assessment

13. Click Degree Requirement if you have graduated and upload your official transcript.


Coursework Path

1. Click the Add to cart and then the Finish button.

2. Enter your payment information

3. Submit Order

4. Click on the Continue the Assessment button

5. Scroll down to Step 2: Assessment by coursework

a. Click on the Select button under each of the required course work areas and click on the Select button.

b. Enter the Title of the course, Course Description, Semester & Year

c. Choose the Academic Institution from the dropdown menu, if your institution is not listed, choose the Other at the bottom of the list

d. Enter the course department code.

e. You may upload a syllabus, not required

f. On the right side of the page click on the pencil next to Transcripts and you can upload your official transcript(s)

g. Click Submit

h. Click on the Continue the Assessment and continue entering your courses to be reviewed.

**The Child Life Course taught by a CCLS you will need to upload the Child Life Course Verification Form for this course ONLY.

Begin Eligibility Assessment

Step #2: Enter Academic and Clinical Information

To complete the Eligibility Assessment, you must submit information and supporting documentation for your degree, coursework, and clinical internship. If you have not yet completed all the requirements, you may enter some information and return later to enter the other parts.

To enter this information, log into your account and enter the information under the "Certification Portal" tab.

REQUIREMENTS

Official Transcript

An official transcript must be sent to the CLCC office before an individual's Eligibility Assessment will be reviewed.

Requirements of the official transcript:

  • Transcripts must be official.This is defined by each college/university.

  • If a university provides official transcripts digitally, they can be emailed to certification@childlife.org directly from the institution.

  • If your institution does not provide the digital option for official transcripts, please contact certification@childlife.org for other options. 

  • CLCC does not accept unofficial transcripts. Transcripts that have been printed by the applicant from the university website are not official transcripts. 

  • If the name that will appear on your official transcripts does not match the name on your Eligibility Assessment, please provide us with a verification of your name change such as a copy of a marriage license or other relevant documentation. This documentation may be faxed, emailed, or mailed to our office.

  • No in-progress courses will be reviewed.

  • Transferred courses from another school must have the name of the course and a passing grade listed on the transcript or be documented by another official transcript from the original college/university.

  • Online courses must be reflected on an official transcript with a passing grade
