The internship application process is challenging for all stakeholders as the current application is long, cumbersome, and difficult to complete and review. Improving the internship application process has been a critical goal for ACLP.

Over the past three years, ACLP has brought together stakeholders and subject matter experts to improve the internship application process. Read more about the work that has been done on the Internship Readiness Project here.

We are excited to launch the new Internship Readiness Common Application. This new application will...

     -Increase efficiency for all stakeholders
     -Reduce bias within the application
     -Improve accessibility

Let's take a look at the new internship readiness common application (600 × 200 px) (1366 × 500 px) (1)

The new Internship Readiness Common Application will increase efficiency for all stakeholders, reduce bias within the application, and improve accessibility by being available electronically. The new application is accessible online and includes three steps:

1. Complete the application

     -Candidates provide demographic information as well as academic affiliation and degree information
     -Candidates can describe up to six relevant experiences
     -Candidates can demonstrate KSAs and depth of interactions with children and families in five written
       responses

2. Upload Unofficial Transcripts

3. Upload Eligibility Assessment

Once all three tasks are complete, applicants can download the application to submit to the programs of their choosing.

The following are ongoing steps to ensure the new application is as successful as possible:

Fall 2022: Gather feedback from the Internship Readiness Common Application Pilot Sites and make revisions to application based on feedback. The feedback from the pilot sites can be found here. January 6, 2023: New application launches for the Fall 2023 Internship Cycle. The Internship Readiness Common Application can be found here. Please read the tips and instructions within the application before submitting.

March 15, 2023: Application deadline for the Fall 2023 Internship Cycle

Summer 2023: Listening sessions and surveys to gather feedback to make improvements to the application
